Katie Holmes Biography

Katie Holmes was born as Katherine Noelle Holmes on 18, December 1978, in Toledo, Ohio. Her father, was a lawyer. Katie was far above average height, and reserved young lady. Katie is the youngest of all the siblings, (she has three sisters and a brother).

Katie Holmes joined Margaret O'Brien's Modeling School in Toledo, that made up her career path. During her summer vacation from Notre Dame Academy (an all-girls Catholic high school), 17-year-old Katie attended a modeling convention in New York City. Katie Holmes set off to Hollywood to try her luck at acting after she attended a modeling convention in California.

Katie Holmes feature film debut 1997's The Ice Storm. After filming The Ice Storm, Katie returned to Toledo in order to complete high school. Kevin Williamson of Scream fame was casting actors for his television teenage drama when she decided to go for a video audition.

Williamson immediately cast Katie Holmes for the role of "Joey Potter" in Dawson's Creek. Dawson's Creek became very popular among the teens soon and so Katie Holmes.

Katie was cast in the thriller Disturbing Behavior in the year 1998. Katie started getting roles for feature films too. Katie appeared in Wonder Boys in the year 2000, starring Michael Douglas and Tobey Maguire.

She was awarded the MTV Movie Award Winner of the 1999 for Best Breakthrough Female Performance. Katie was also voted by Teen People magazine as on of the 21 Hottest Stars under 21. Expressen Fredag of Sweden awarded her "Babe of the Year" in the 1998.
